Building Bridges: Workshop IV in Paris
The fourth Building Bridges workshop took place on 30 November – 1st December 2015 in Paris. This event included a discussion between experts involved in the project and French citizens about the impact European integration had on France and what citizens' expectations are for the future. In total 26 participants from eight EU countries (Ireland, Cyprus, Finland, Sweden, Austria, the Netherlands, Lithuania and France) were involved. The following day, the experts reflected on the main topics discussed with the French participants and presented the preliminary findings of their research on their national perspective on the EU.
The project Building Bridges between National Perspectives on the EU is co-funded by the “Europe for citizens” programme of the European Union.
In France, Europe basically expresses four objectives: peace, parity with Germany, economic development, and leveraging French power. But today, the feeling abounds that none of these objectives are really being achieved.
