Michel DRAIN

Former associate Research Fellow, Study Committee for Franco-German Relations (Cerfa)

  • French-German security and defense cooperation
  • Germany’s participation in the Euro-Atlantic security structures
  • Germany’s decision-making mechanisms and particularly the role of the Bundestag in security and defense matters

 

Michel Drain was an Associate Research Fellow at Ifri's CERFA from 2015 to 2021. He served as service administrator at the French National Assembly (1974-2013). He assisted the defense budget’s special rapporteurs in the Finance Committee’s secretariat (1983-1993), was Deputy Director of the Defense Committee’s secretariat (1998-2002) and a member of the international parliamentary relations division (2010-2013).

Michel Dram was in charge of the France-Russia Grand Parliamentary Committee’s Executive Secretariat, and of the Executive Secretariat of the Interparliamentary Union’s French Group as well as Executive Secretary of the Committee on the Verification of Special Funds (2003-2012). He held a Diplôme d’études approfondies (DEA) in International Relations, SciencesPo (1981) and graduated from SciencesPo in Public Affairs (1970).
