Morocco and its "New Border". A Critical Lecture of Morocco's Economic African Strategy Notes de l'Ifri, 2010, "The Maghreb in its regional and international environment" Program

Since Mohammed VI came into power, Morocco’s African policy has undergone notable change in comparison to his predecessor’s period.

Le Maroc et sa "nouvelle frontière" : lecture critique du versant économique de la stratégie africaine du Maroc

Strictly speaking, this evolution does not break with the past but is rather synonymous with continuity, acceleration and diversification. After tackling the elements of continuity but also innovation, this paper focuses on Morocco’s economic African strategy, particularly exchange trade and national companies" presence in southern Sahara. It also attempts to assess the gap between the Moroccan enthusiastic official discourse and the contrasting material reality.
