Christian Lechervy is an Advisor to the Program on Pacific Islands of the Center for Asian Studies, Ifri. During his diplomatic career, Christian Lechervy held the positions of Head of the Asia-Pacific Office of the Strategic Affairs Delegation of the Ministry of Defense (1992-1996), Deputy to the Vice Director of Regional Affairs at the Strategic Affairs Delegation, Ministry of Defense (1996-1997), Advisor for International Affairs to the Minister of Defence, Mr. Alain Richard (1997-2002), Assistant to the Delegate for Humanitarian Action, Deputy Director for humanitarian policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002) and Deputy Director for South-East Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2002-2006). He was Ambassador of France to Turkmenistan from 2006 to 2009, Deputy Director of Foresight from 2009 to 2012 and Advisor for Strategic Affairs and Asia-Pacific to the Presidency of the Republic from 2012 to 2014.

From 2014 to 2018, he served as Permanent Secretary for the Pacific, Ambassador of France to the Pacific Community (SPC) and the Pacific Regional Environment Program (SPREP). He is currently Ambassador of France to Myanmar. He is the author of numerous articles on the Pacific Islands Countries, including, in French: « La Micronésie au service de la politique « indo-pacifique » américaine », Outre-Terre, 2022/1-2 (N° 60-61), pp. 397-435 ; « Les collectivités françaises d’Océanie, actrices et atouts en Indo-Pacifique », Revue Défense Nationale, 2021/9 (N° 844), pp. 21-27 ; « La place des Outre-mer océaniens dans la politique Indo-Pacifique de la France », Revue Défense Nationale, 2019/8 (N° 823), pp.18-24.
