China in Africa: From Political Presence to Environmental Footprint Les Jeudis de l'Ifri

A "Les Jeudis de l'Ifri" videoconference around Thierry VIRCOULON, Associate Research Fellow at Ifri's Center for African Studies.

Chinese penetration in Africa has been one of the defining aspects of globalization for the past 20 years. This new relationship, expressed by the concept of ChinAfrica, is evolving profoundly. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted its contradictions. Chinese humanitarian diplomacy in Africa and its self-promotion efforts were wiped out by the wave of anti-African racism in China which provoked a unanimous and unprecedented protest against Beijing on the African continent. ChinAfrica has changed in nature.

This debate is for corporate members only. It will be conducted in French.
