Danièle Joly is a former Associate Research Fellow at Ifri's Center for Migration and Citizenship from September 2011 to February 2022. She is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Sociology at the University of Warwick, where she was the director of the Centre for Research in Ethnic Relations (CRER). Danièle Joly is also an associate researcher at the College d’études mondiales (MSH-Paris), a a member of the CADIS International at École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS). She has directed various European Commissions and other international collaborative research projects.
Her publications include Muslim women and power: civic and political engagement in West European societies with Khursheed Wadia (Palgrave MacMillan, 2017), L'Emeute (Denoël, 2007), Muslims in Prison (Palgrave MacMillan, 2005), Blacks and Britannity (Burlington, Aldershot, Ashgate, 2001), Haven or Hell: Asylum Policy and Refugees in Europe (Palgrave MacMillan, 1996). Danièle Joly was awarded with Khursheed Wadia the UK Political Studies Association WJM Mackenzie Prize for Best Book in Political Science 2017-2018 for Muslim women and power: civic and political engagement in West European societies.
