Dans ce contexte, le Japon et la France s’efforcent de faire croitre leur aide au développement, mais également leurs investissements privés et leurs contributions pour la sécurité en Afrique subsaharienne. Le Japon et la France étant des acteurs importants sur le continent, les deux pays cherchent à approfondir leur coopération bilatérale sur le terrain. 

Cette année, les pays africains seront invités au sommet du G7 en France, puis prendront part au sommet Japon-Afrique (TICAD) qui se tiendra à Yokohama fin août. Cette conférence, co-organisée par le Centre Asie et le Centre Afrique subsaharienne, permettra de discuter des dernières évolutions sur le continent africain et évoquer le partenariat franco-japonais.

Cette conférence se tiendra en anglais.

9:30-10:45 Opportunities and challenges for France-Japan economic cooperation in Africa

Main Questions:
-What are the characteristics of France and Japan’s development cooperation strategies in Africa and are they compatible?
-How do the French and Japanese business communities perceive the African market and how do they invest in it? Is there any synergy to exploit for joint projects?
-What is the state of France-Japan business cooperation and what are the main opportunities and challenges ahead?
-What are the roles of TICAD on the Japan-France cooperation in Africa?
-Do Japan and France share the same assessment about African economic challenges and solutions?
-What would be Japan and France positions vis-à-vis third countries’ activism in Africa?

-What is the state of France-Japan security cooperation after the 2015 joint plan for Africa, and in the perspective of their respective Indo-Pacific approaches?
-What would be the conditions to advance the Japan-France security cooperation on the African continent?
