Research interests: 

  • Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan)

 

Michael Levystone was a Research Fellow then an Associate Research Fellow at Ifri’s Russia / Eurasia Center, respectively from March 2021 to October 2022 and from October 2023 to December 2023. His research deals with domestic and foreign policies of the five post-Soviet states in Central Asia, namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.

Michael Levystone holds three Master’s Degrees: in Strategy and Management of International Business from ESSEC Business School, in International Affairs from the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS), and in International Trade Law from University Paris-5. He has worked in French Embassy in Kazakhstan and in the Franco-Russian Observatory, a think tank located in Moscow and depending on the Franco-Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
