Professor of Politics and Society at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (University College London, UK), Alena Ledeneva is author of many books about corruption, unwritten rules and the "economy of favour" in Russia. In her forthcoming publication (with S. Shekshnia, "Doing Business in Russia: Informal Practices and Anti-Corruption Strategies" Russie.Nei.Visions, March 2011), she tries to move beyond the predominant corruption paradigm and to disaggregate its measurement in order to understand corporate corruption in Russia and to develop effective anti-corruption policies at the macro level and anti-corruption strategies at the enterprise level.
