The increasing judicialization of external military action is encouraging military law to fall into line with common law.

The 2013 Military Planning Act attempted to put this evolution into a framework in order to make way for public proceedings and, more generally, to increase military responsibility. In order to bring this legal framework into practice, the military police will play a central role, conducting investigations involving military personnel and French citizens in hostile environments.
