China is central to global energy and raw material markets, and for addressing climate change. Another record high coal consumption in 2024 has mirrored record high deployment and manufacturing of clean technologies. Diesel demand may have peaked, and greenhouse gas emissions could be near peaking too as China’s economy has been slowing down.
