What can the ASEAN Community contribute to Southeast Asia and the World?
ASEAN has come a long way since its founding in 1967. While the primary objective of furthering regional cooperation was initially couched in general terms, it was broadened over time with the creation of an ASEAN Community encompassing economic, security, social and cultural cooperation.
Officially launched on 31 December 2015, what is this ASEAN Community all about? How will it benefit or impact its member-states and European partners? Will it enhance regional security and contribute to the emergence of an ASEAN identity?
Diplomats, experts and academics will discuss the content as well as the implementation process towards the ASEAN Community.
This conference is organized by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the Center for Asian Studies, Ifri.
