Les relations franco-israéliennes: une inconstante amitié (The Franco-Israeli Relations: A Real Friendship?) L'essentiel des relations internationales, June 2006, pp. 62-64.

Abstract

Since the creation of the State of Israel in 1948, Franco-Israeli relations have evolved dramatically. From 1948 until the mid 1960's, Paris was Tel Aviv's closest ally. De Gaulle's policy is usually considered as a turning point. The so-called "politique arabe de la France" (France's Arab policy) was indeed elaborated during the De Gaulle presidency. Some analysts state that this policy has become a doctrine which still weighs on Franco-Israeli relations.
