Taiwan After the Elections: What Domestic and International Challenges Ahead?

Tsai Ing-wen will be inaugurated as the new president of the Republic of China (Taiwan) on May 20.

This seminar identifies and analyzes the major domestic and international challenges that she will face, starting with the management of cross-strait relations with China. The speakers will consider these challenges in light of the evolution of the domestic political landscape and the regional balance of power in Asia.

Dr. Dafydd Fell, Reader in Comparative Politics, SOAS Department of Politics and International Studies.

Dr. Alice Ekman, Research Fellow, Head of China research, Center for Asia Studies, Ifri.
