Luc PAGÈS

Former Advisor to the Securty Studies Center


 

 

Luc Pagès is a former advisor to Ifri's Security Studies Center and a Naval Officer who served for 35 years in the French Navy. He retired from active service in September 2021. Luc Pagès joined the naval academy in 1986, and spent his embarked career aboard various surface vessels, including command of a training ship (1992-1993; Brest), a surveillance frigate (2008-2009; French Polynesia) and an anti-submarine based frigate (2010-2012; Toulon). He attended the French War College and was an auditor at the National Defense University (2012-2013; Washington DC), where he earned a Master's degree in national security strategy.

During his embarked career, he took part in numerous air-sea operations, including Khor Angar (Djibouti) and Trident/Allied Force in the Adriatic Sea (1999), Active Endeavor in the Mediterranean, Enduring Freedom in the Indian Ocean and Harmattan/Unified Protector in Libya (2011). On land, he spent eleven years in positions of responsibility in international defense relations, including deputy head of the policy office at NATO Transformation Command Norfolk and coordinating officer for SACT and DSACT (2004-2007), naval attaché to the French embassy in the United States (2013-2016) and head of the office of bilateral military relations with countries in the transatlantic area (2016-2018). He concluded his career as General Officer, Defense Attaché to the French Embassy in the United Kingdom (2018-2021).
