With Jean-Claude Desenclos, Scientific Director, Institut de Veille Sanitaire (InVS), Monique Eloit, adjunct Director, World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), and Didier Houssin, interministerial delegate to the fight against avian influenza.
If the threat of the A/H1N1 influenza could move away from the Northern hemisphere in the coming summer months, the current situation in developing countries, the probability of a comeback of the disease this autumn and the move to the highest phase of pandemic alert are all grounds to remain prudent. Do we have the means to contain the spread of the disease? More largely, what lessons, in sanitary, psychological and institutional terms, have we learned from recent experiences? What conclusions can we draw on the progress achieved and yet to be achieved in view of an effective global management of pandemics?
Debates will be moderated by Aline Leboeuf, Head of the Health&Environment programme.
