Frère du défunt roi Hussein et oncle de l'actuel roi Abdallah II de Jordanie, le Prince El Hassan est une personnalité politique de tout premier plan. Auteur, créateur d'institutions, ses préoccupations portent sur le Moyen-Orient et l'avenir de cette région.
L'intervention du Prince El Hassan portera sur les questions transfrontalières liées à la sécurité, à l'énergie et à l'eau. Le Prince El Hassan insistera en particulier sur la nécessité de développer de nouveaux concepts supranationaux afin de mieux appréhender la raréfaction des ressources, la pauvreté énergétiques et les conséquences du changement climatique. C'est du développement des énergies renouvelables et des technologies propres que pourraît naître une troisième révolution industrielle.
