At COP15 on Biodiversity in Montreal last month, a historical deal was reached, which includes the goal of protecting 30% of the world’s land and water ecosystems, mobilizing USD 200 billion, and moving away from environmentally harmful investments.

Like the Paris Agreement for climate change, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework is poised to frame international policies for the upcoming decades, with the objective of halting and reserving biodiversity loss by 2030 and preventing humanity from the so-called sixth extinction. However, many questions remain, notably regarding the contribution to the fund and the countries who would benefit from it, but also about the implementation of these goals.
The IFRI Center of Energy and Climate is honored to welcome H.E. Sylvie Lemmet, French Ambassador for the Environment, who will present the results of COP15 and discuss next steps and challenges ahead.
