Kevin Jianjun Tu is a Non-Resident Fellow at Ifri's Energy and Climate Center, he also serves as Chief Advisor China at Agora Energiewende, and as an adjunct professor at the School of Environment, Beijing Normal University.

Tu was the Founding Managing Director of Agora Energy China from 2021 to 2026. Prior to his affiliation with Ifri in 2019, Tu held various senior positions across the energy sector, including China Programme Manager at the Paris-based International Energy Agency; Director of the China Energy and Climate Programme at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, DC; Partner at a leading energy consulting firm in Vancouver; Director of Marine Operations at China’s largest LPG importer and distributor; and Construction Project Manager at Sinopec, one of China’s major national oil companies.

With more than three decades of professional experience spanning the Asia-Pacific region, North America, and Europe, Tu brings extensive expertise in energy, environmental policy, government affairs, and corporate strategy. His research interests encompass a broad range of energy and climate issues, including fossil fuel value chains, energy transitions, energy sector reform, climate change, and corporate strategy and transformation. A particular focus of his work is China’s energy and climate relations with major economies, especially the European Union and the United States, and their implications for China’s energy and climate policies.
