Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Coquel is an officer in the French Air and Space Force who is currently embedded within the Defense Research Unit (LRD) of Ifri’s Center for Security Studies (CES), where he contributes to research on air and space power and capability development. A Mirage 2000D fighter pilot, he has been deployed several times on overseas operations in Africa and Eastern Europe, and has also served at central headquarters on capability development issues, including the Mirage 2000D upgrade and Rafale air-to-ground weapon systems, as well as serving as Military Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Staff of the French Air and Space Force. A flight lead and instructor on the Mirage 2000, he remains involved in the training of young aircrews. He has logged approximately 2,000 flight hours and flown 125 combat missions.

A graduate of the French Air Force Academy (École de l’Air), he holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aix-Marseille University and is also a graduate of the French War College (École de Guerre).
