Vincent Tourret is a researcher at Ifri's Security Studies Center. He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Paris II Assas University and in History from Paris IV University. From 2018 to 2022, he worked as a research fellow at the Foundation for Strategic Research as part of the Future Conflicts Observatory.
His work focuses on the “techno-operational” analysis of armed conflicts, which involves assessing the impact of doctrinal and capability innovations on military organizations, particularly in terms of force structure and force generation. This specialization has led him to study the evolution of Soviet and later Russian strategic culture, its internal shifts, and its implications for the war in Ukraine and the future of Russian power in Europe. He is currently completing a doctoral dissertation at the Université du Québec à Montréal and conducted a research visit to Kyiv in 2024. His publications cover Russian land and air operational designs, the state of its armed forces and their prospects for reconstitution, as well as the impact of drone warfare on the battlefield.
